Black Eye

I went to pick Hudson up from his Nana and Grandaddy's one day and found that he had fallen and hit his eye. This is day two of a black eye that lasted a week and a half! It doesn't seem to bother him, but he looks so pitiful!

First Haircut

I finally took Hudson for his very first haircut! It was past due, but I didn't want to part with the little curls that he sometimes had. I took him to my friend Lori's shop in her basement. She rearranged her schedule so that we could just walk right in and get going. Ms. Joan and Ms. Elsa were there having their hair done, so they got to watch as well. He did very well, especially for his first time! The frilly little smock makes him look a little girly :)

Looking at himself in the mirror before we got started

He did NOT like the water being sprayed in the front around his face!
He liked the comb, but I think it tickled.Ms. Lori gives him a little reassurance
All done- Look how handsome!

Child Proofing

We finally had to do sume much needed child proofing around our kitchen. None of the thngs in the unprotected drawers and cabinets were dangerous, but Hudson's plundering had been getting out of hand. Whild Jimmy struggled with our crazy cabinets, Hudson held down the fort- literally! He played in the empty drawers and had a ball!

Spoon Feeding

Hudson is fascinated with his spoon, but doesn't really want to be fed by us anymore. I know that the only way to learn something is by trying, so I thought I'd let him experiment. The clean freak in me was cringing throughout the whole process. He is not very efficient yet! He enjoyed the feel of the spoon in his hand and mouth, but there was rarely any food on it. We'll keep trying!

Happy New Year

In this new year, (and decade,) we are grateful for many things. Hudson, however, is only grateful for cornbread! It was so messy, but he insists on eating everything with his hands!

Catching Up!

I haven't posted anything in a looong time, so I am trying to catch up on a few things. Thanks to those of you who keep reminding me you want to see new pics! These are nowhere near current, but I just wanted to show some of the fairly recent things that have happened at our house lately. Hope you enjoy!

Sick Visit

Today had his first sick visit at the Doctor. I have been on pins and needles since Thurs night when started running a low- grade fever. Should I take him or should I not? His slight fever seemed to come and go randomly, and most of the time he was his normal self, playing and getting into mischief. Yesterday we decided that we would definitely take him this morning if he woke up with a fever again. I took him in and (of course) he didn't register a fever in the office. I learned that the rectal thermometer is not the most accurate? Wish I'd have known before poking it into his bottom about a million times to get an accurate temp! So all the times he was registering below 100.5, he actually didn't have a fever. Also, the pediatrician told me that I was wrong to attribute the low- grade fever to shots after the first 24 hours. At this point I was irritable and feeling foolish. The end of the story is that Hudson has some type of viral cold with yucky cough. We are putting him on steroids to try to clear up the congestion, but luckily it's all in his upper respiratory track, not down in his lungs. He has not been contagious, for which I am thankful! It is very stressful making decisions about this stuff! You know in your heart you are a good mom, but all the conflicting advice and modern medical junk makes you second- guess yourself! I'm glad I took him in, if only for my piece of mind, but wish the experience had been somewhat different.
